Creating and editing an employee
The three sections of the form, and which fields do work elsewhere in the product.
Employees, then New. The form has three sections.
Personal details
Name, position, a profile picture, and contact details.
The position is the job title you would put in front of a client. It appears on assignments and is what a project's "who is on this" list shows.
Rates and terms
The default rate for this person's work.
This matters beyond bookkeeping: a project assignment can carry its own rate, and where it does not, this is the fallback. A person with no rate anywhere produces hours that cannot be invoiced.
Link app account
Connects this employee record to a Steerd login, so the hours that person logs are attributed to this employee. See Linking an app account.
Leave it empty for people who do not use Steerd.
Editing later
Everything is editable and nothing rewrites history. Changing a rate changes what future hours are worth; hours already on an issued invoice were sealed at issue and are unaffected.
Deleting versus deactivating
Set somebody Inactive rather than deleting them. Deleting removes a person that assignments, time entries and CVs point at, and the record of who did the work is usually worth more than a tidy list.
