Steerd Help

Overview

What the file store is for, the two kinds of file in it, and where they come from.

Your team's secure file storage.

Files is a shared store for everything that is not a record: contracts, incoming invoices, images, whatever a project accumulates.

Two kinds of file

Files you upload. Yours to rename, re-categorize and delete.

Files Steerd generated. Invoice PDFs, timesheets, e-invoice files, travel reports. They arrive here automatically when the document that produced them was issued or sealed, and they behave differently. See Files Steerd creates for you.

Telling the two apart matters, because the second kind cannot be edited and should not be.

Everything is encrypted

Every file carries the note Encrypted at rest. See Storage and encryption.

What it is not

It is not a document editor, not a folder tree, and not a sync client. There are no folders at all: files are organized by category, plus filters and search, which works better than folders once there are a few hundred of them.

Who sees what

Files belong to the workspace, not to the person who uploaded them, so your team sees them. The uploader is recorded and is one of the filters.

A time tracker sees no files at all, like every other module outside time and travel.
