Pipeline stages and how a project moves
Stages are yours to design, what moving one does, and why changing the set is a team-wide decision.
The lanes on your board are your stages. Steerd ships a sensible default set and expects you to change it.
Moving a project
Drag its card to another lane, or change the stage on the project itself. There is no approval step and no restriction on direction: a project can go backwards, which is what actually happens when a deal stalls.
Each card shows how long it has been where it is: Moved today, or "12 days in this stage". That number is the raw material for noticing that something has quietly died.
Designing the stages
Under Settings, Pipeline. See Designing your pipeline.
Two things to know before you reshape them:
- It is a team-wide act. Stages are shared, so changing them changes everyone's board and retroactively changes what win rate and staleness mean. That is why the permission is admin-level and not something every member holds.
- Existing projects move with the stages. Nothing is orphaned, but a project that sat in a stage you deleted has to land somewhere, so decide where before you delete.
Won, lost, and everything else
Reaching the last stage is not the same as winning. Closing a project is its own act, with a reason. See Closing a project.
