Dismissing and restoring a message
Saying no to a message, why dismissed is not deleted, and how to get one back.
Not every message is an inquiry. Dismiss says so.
What dismissing does
It moves the message to Dismissed and takes it out of your pending queue. Nothing is created, and nothing is deleted from your mailbox.
Why not just delete it
Because "I already looked at this" is worth remembering.
A dismissed message stays visible under its own filter, which means re-importing the same mailbox does not put it back in your queue. That is what stops the review pile refilling with things you already said no to.
Restoring
Filter to dismissed, open the message, and put it back to pending. Useful more often than you would think: an inquiry that looked like spam in March is sometimes a real client in June.
Deleting
You can delete a message from Steerd entirely, and it says clearly that this cannot be undone.
The mail itself is untouched in your mailbox either way. Steerd holds a copy for review, not the original.
The one to watch
Dismissing is cheap and reversible; confirming creates a project. When in doubt, dismiss. A dismissed inquiry you revisit costs you one click, while a pipeline full of projects that were never real costs you an accurate win rate.
